We’re Chats & Michael—the husband-and-wife team behind Neluka Photography, based in Toronto.
We photograph the seasons of life that matter: weddings, growing families, new beginnings, portraits, and everything in between.
Different seasons ask to be held differently.
Some moments simply need to unfold, while others need a little direction, shaping, or imagination to reveal what is already there.
We know when to step back. We know when to step in.
The result is photography that feels personal rather than performed—holding onto something of how it felt to be there, not simply how it looked.

Chats
Photography didn’t begin as a plan. It became a way of seeing.
Chats picked up a camera in high school and eventually studied Fine Art at OCAD University, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts. Her curiosity about people—the way they move, connect, and reveal themselves—continues to shape how she photographs.
She photographs the way it feels, not simply the way it looks. Her photojournalistic instinct allows her to observe what unfolds naturally, while her artist’s eye knows when to step in, guide, and create when a moment needs a little shaping.
Behind the camera is where her curiosity takes over—and where she feels most at home.
Behind the lens
Michael
Michael is Chats’ husband, best friend, and partner at Neluka.
He is deeply involved in the client experience, bringing a calm, grounded presence to everything that happens behind the scenes. He keeps the moving pieces flowing, looks after the details, and makes sure our clients feel cared for from beginning to end.
He also photographs alongside Chats, with a particular eye for candid moments, behind-the-scenes interactions, and the things happening just outside the obvious frame.
Together, they bring different strengths to the same story—creative instinct on one side, a steady hand on the other.
The bigger pictureBehind the lens, we’re just Chats and Michael.
Chats has an inexplicable love of snails and has, on occasion, put one on her face simply because she could. She loves creating with her hands, often turning people into living canvases, and draws inspiration from cinema, music, and the beautiful mess of life.
Michael was a butterfly swimming champion in high school, which may explain his laser focus and almost obsessive relationship with time. In the last three years, he also picked up painting—despite being, by his own admission, terrible at art in high school.
Somehow, it all makes sense.
